It’s a Christ-focused curriculum which resources parents to equip their children for the journey to discover why a relationship with God matters through teaching them His Word in relevant and meaningful ways. On any given Sunday everyone at Ridge Kids will experience the same story from the Bible, how it applies to their life, and how they can serve others from what they've learned. The author of the curriculum said,
"With a family of six younger children, I found it difficult to follow up with my children’s regular church lessons. They were all learning something different. Follow up at home was impossible for me; and I was the children’s pastor!"
God’s Story teaches the same Bible story on three different learning levels - for preschool (2-5 year olds), early elementary (K-2 grade), and upper elementary (3-5 grade). So, if you have a 4 year old and a 5th grader, they will be learning the same story at their age-appropriate level. It’s a three year curriculum with a year and half in the Old Testament and a year and a half in the New Testament. We begin with the creation story and work our way to Revelation over the course of three years. As we travel through the Old Testament, each week there will be a portion called Where is Jesus in the Story? We believe that every story in the Old Testament points to Christ and our need for him. So, we don’t want kids to have to wait a year and a half to learn about Jesus. Each week kids will learn how Jesus was active and integral in and throughout the Old Testament.
What we’re most excited about it is the Family Devotionals that we’ll be resourcing you with on a weekly basis. Each week we will be providing 5 devotionals to use in your home. Having one Bible passage for everyone makes it possible for parents to follow up with what their kids are learning at church at home. This is simply one of the best resources we have ever seen for families. We strongly encourage you to use them on a consistent basis. We know you’ll find them engaging and rewarding for your entire family. You have the most important job as you parent your children through these crucial years in their spiritual development. We pray that you take time to invest in their lives at home and partner with us in this journey of faith. Without you, the biggest piece of the puzzle is missing. So, be sure to check out the Family Devotionals over on the Parent Connection Page as we begin our walk together through God's great story!
