News Update
There will be some changes coming to the course very soon. Although this course just opened, it is getting a huge amount of traffic. We are in the process of doing several construction projects on our property.
This includes an all purpose field, a parking lot and two access roads.
- This field will be built between hole #17, the pond, the Back yard entrance and Cuernavaca where the big piles of dirt are currently. This field will be great for ultimate Frisbee, soccer, football and many other community activities.
- The new parking lot will hold estimated 200+ cars.
- We will be making an additional entry to the church parking lot that will connect to Cuernavaca above basket 16.
- There will also be a road that connects the new parking lot and entry road to the Back Yard road. It will run between basket #14 and tee box #15.

*While this new lot is being built, 14 through 18 will be closed and the baskets pulled for your safety.*
UPDATE (08/02/2010): 14 through 18 should be open by Mid September!
They will be returned in an estimated 3 months. Hole 12 will be looked at very closely and may get a new design. It is also possible that a hole between 12 and 13 may be constructed and labeled C. The course will return in full strength when the field and parking lot are completed and will be better than the original. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Austin Ridge Bible Church has decided to open their property for all kinds of recreational activities for the community to enjoy. This website is the official source for information about these opportunities that exist on the property called the Backyard.
In August of 2008 work began on the property which was thick with cedar trees and littered with trash from decades ago. Thanks to the caring hearts of over 150 different volunteers who put in thousands of hours of labor every week, the property has been cleaned up and now has the following activities for the community to enjoy:
1.) Disc Golf Course – The world class course was designed by the country’s premiere designer, John Houck with HouckDesign. John found out about the course through a church member who had played Disc Golf only one time before and was out at the Disc Golf Ranch John owns and operates in Wimberley called Circle R Disc Golf Ranch. John loved the idea of doing it for the community and jumped on board to design the course out of his love for the sport.
2.) Mountain Biking – The south side of the property has a spider web of biking trails throughout. These trails meet the skill level of beginners to veterans and if the trails on the south side of the property aren’t enough - try climbing to the top of the hill on the North side of the property. It's guaranteed you'll have to get off your bike and walk a little!
3.) ½ Mile Trail – There is a scenic hiking trail that stretches half a mile around one of the most unique land forms in Austin that we call "The Grotto". During wet years it becomes a waterfall with it's tall rock walls are home to many different lush ferns. It makes a nice hike with a little elevation change and great shade during those hot times of the day.
4.) Lakeside Picnic Area – There are 6 large picnic tables for anyone to use by the beautiful lake to enjoy a relaxing lunch, have a kid's birthday party, or just watch the disc golfers try to keep out of the water.
5.) Campground Area – Austin needed a good close place to camp that’s off the beaten path. This campground was already host to over 100 Boy Scouts and can be available for your next overnight trip to the woods. It comes complete with nice shade trees and a campfire built by the Boy Scouts themselves. If you would like to reserve the area for a night under the stars please call 263-7701.
The entire Backyard was built by and is maintained by volunteers. Please work with us to help keep it clean and safe for all those who come to enjoy it so that there will be many more years of enjoyment for the community.
Why did we do all of this? It's simple. Jesus tells us the two greatest commandments to follow:
Love God. Love Others.
