1 Samuel 15

On Sunday, we continued the story of Saul’s growing distance from God in 1 Samuel 15. When God commanded Saul to completely destroy the Amalekites, Saul chose partial obedience, sparing King Agag and keeping the best possessions for himself. Although Saul tried to justify his actions and offered shallow excuses, Samuel reminded him that what God desires most is wholehearted obedience. This passage shows us that God’s holiness is complete and that He calls us to follow Him with undivided hearts. While Saul’s disobedience ultimately cost him the kingdom, the good news is that God graciously invites each of us to turn to Him in genuine repentance and experience His mercy. The chapter challenges us: Will we follow Saul’s example, or respond to God with humble, wholehearted surrender?
