1 Samuel 30

Life sometimes brings us to our own “Brook of Besor,” places where we are exhausted, wounded, disappointed, and unsure what to do next. In 1 Samuel 30, David and his men experience devastating loss. Yet in the middle of their pain, David learns to strengthen himself in the Lord. God led them to victory, but the story doesn’t end with recovering what was lost. It ends at the Brook of Besor—the brook of “good news”—where David extends grace to the exhausted and reminds his men that the victory was solely God’s gift. We learn, with David, that grace is not just for the moments when we need it most, but should shape how we live and treat others every day, in every context and situation, no matter how difficult.
