Impacting children's lives for eternity with the gospel

Founded in 1987, SonShine Preschool exists to provide a rich, Christ-centered learning environment where God’s truth is woven into every aspect of a child’s experience, cultivating a sense of wonder for His creation and a daily understanding of His love. We also believe parents are a child’s most important teachers, so we partner with families by offering support, care, and community that encourages spiritual growth and a lasting love for Jesus.

"Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6

Our school year typically begins the first week of September and ends the second week of May. Our holiday schedule closely follows area school districts.

Each Monday, the Children’s Ministry team leads Chapel. On Wednesdays, the children have Music class.

We ask parents to pack a peanut/nut-free lunch and snack for their child and provide a water bottle each day.

Yes! We offer a variety of special events throughout the school year, including Firefighter Day, Cowboy Day, Tiny Tails Day, and Field Day for our children. We also host Christmas and Easter music programs that focus on Jesus and the biblical truth of each holiday. In addition, our Parent Ministry Team supports families by coordinating room moms, organizing playdates, and planning various social and outreach events throughout the school year.

Children in our 2-year-old classes do not need to be potty-trained. However, children enrolled in our 3, 4, and 5-year-old classes must be fully potty-trained, meaning they are able to use the restroom independently and attend school without pull-ups or diapers.

Yes! We love having parents be a part of our preschool. Throughout the year, we offer a variety of volunteer opportunities. We especially rely on parent help as room parent coordinators and for our special events, such as Cowboy Day and Road to Bethlehem. Your involvement makes a meaningful difference in creating a warm and engaging school community.

Yes, we are a licensed childcare facility through the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

    Annie Rabke

Annie grew up in Austin, attended the University of Texas, graduated with a degree in Education, and taught in both public and private schools before moving to Rwanda, Africa, to work as the Education Director at a home for orphans. While there, she also taught a Pre-K class and English to a small group of women. After almost two years, God closed that door and brought her back to Austin, although Africa will always have a piece of her heart. After several years in the classroom, God provided a job within Austin Ridge for her to serve as the Director of SonShine School. Annie loves and enjoys her job - the staff, the children, and the parents! When not at SonShine, she enjoys CG, all things outdoors, and lots of time with family, friends, and her husband.
